For Faculty

How to Sponsor an Issue

As of July 2014, EM-Journal is no longer accepting new materials or developing new issues.

EM—Journal invites issue proposals year-round. We plan to publish at least two issues each year, but our flexible model allows us to publish upwards of four issues per year. For faculty, proposing an issue is akin to sponsoring it (i.e., assuming an active role in its coordination and development). We seek issues linked to specific courses or academic programs, but we also welcome ideas and suggestions that would exceed the limits of this design.

Issue themes and focuses are highly flexible. The journal aspires to showcase an eclectic assortment of genres, methods, and forms writ across campus, neighboring communities, and digital environments. We seek issues organized around specialized areas of interest, research methods, or modes of inquiry. EM—Journal assumes an expansive, contemporary definition of writing, which extends to include textual, digital, multimodal compositions. That is, you are urged to imagine (and propose) issues that integrate audio, video, and photographic elements (e.g., podcasts, digital video, photo essays).

To propose/sponsor an issue, simply send us an email including the details listed below. Someone from our editorial team will contact you to plan and schedule the issue's development.

Note: Under ordinary circumstances, the time frame from proposing an issue to publication is 3-6 months.
